Motorola seems keen to prove that slim phones do not have to feel like a compromise. With the Moto X70 Air Pro, the company is teasing a more capable version of its thin smartphone, one that tries to fix some of the usual trade-offs around cameras, charging, and performance. The phone has been teased officially in China and is expected to launch in the coming weeks, likely in January.
Advantages of the device
The early teasers make Motorola’s intent quite clear. In posts shared on Weibo, the brand describes the Moto X70 Air Pro as “more Pro,” with a stronger focus on AI-led features. Cameras appear to be a big part of that pitch. Motorola is teasing a triple rear camera setup backed by AI, with a periscope telephoto lens in the mix. That is worth paying attention to, because zoom cameras are usually the first thing to go when brands chase ultra-slim designs. If Motorola manages to include a periscope lens without making the phone thicker or heavier, it would give the X70 Air Pro a practical advantage over many other thin phones.

Charging looks set to be another meaningful upgrade. A device believed to be the Moto X70 Air Pro has appeared on China’s 3C certification database with support for up to 90W wired fast charging. That is a step up from the 67W charging offered by the Moto X70 Air and the globally launched Motorola Edge 70. While Motorola has not confirmed the battery capacity yet, the certification hints at a larger battery, which should make the phone easier to live with on a daily basis. Fast charging matters even more on slim phones, where battery size is often limited by design.
Best price for year’s end
On the performance side, the phone has previously shown up on Geekbench, pointing to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 chipset. That would place the Moto X70 Air Pro in the upper mid-range, offering better performance and efficiency than the standard X70 Air without pushing it into full flagship territory. There is still some uncertainty here, though. Separate leaks suggest Motorola may also be working on a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 device, which could arrive as a different model under the Edge or Signature lineup.
